This tutorial is basically how you can add sky or clouds to your base.

Open up your base. The one I picked was a bit cut off and awkward to crop. So I made it less than 100x100.

Next, I picked out a sky texture (from my set Caelum Infinitum) and placed it behind the base.

Now, the break between the base and the sky texture is way too obvious. So I erased a little bit off the top of my base to make it blend with the sky. It looks more natural. Depending on your base, you may have to erase more or less.

The base is too dark in contrast to the sky texture. It needs to be lightened up. Duplicate the base, and set it to screen 100% opacity.

Add a levels layer, and click auto levels. This will even out the colors.

Add a channel mixer layer, and input these settings: red input channel: red: 130, green: -15, blue: -15; green output channel: red: -15, green: 130, blue: -15; blue output channel: red: -15, green: -15, blue: 130.

Add this texture (which I gaussian blurred at radius of 12) by
[livejournal.com profile] rustyhalox, and set it to soft light 100% opacity.

Add this texture (which I also gaussian blurred at a radius of 12) by
[livejournal.com profile] rustyhalox, and set it to soft light 100% opacity.

Add this texture by ?, and set it to lighten 30% opacity.

Add a photo filter layer using the cooling filter (82) at 25% density.

Add a brightness-contrast layer, and input these settings: brightness: -20, contrast: 20.

Flatten and sharpen. Voila! There you have it!
