aurora_amethystWell, this is the last of the old tutorials! I guess I'll have to come up with some more of my own new ones! I also will try to keep up with those who want tutorials of current avies. (I can't always guarantee a tutorial, though :P)

Made in GIMP, fully translatable

Going from this:
to this: 
Open a new icon file and open the image as a new layer. We will be using a cap from Spare-oom.net.
Arrange the image. Cut, crop, sharpen, etc.
Duplicate the image and set to screen, 100% opacity.
Add a new layer and set it to color. Then take a brush and paint over the yellow stripes of Lucy's tie with ffd000 and over the blue stripes with 000080.
Merge the layers together and duplicate the merged layer. Desaturate the duplicated layer and set it to soft light, 100% opacity.
Then go to filters>artistic>softglow. Set the glow radius to 10, brightness to .75, and sharpness to .85.
