Wow! Thank you for your lovely comments! I definitely appreciate the thought you put into it as I rarely get such thoughtful feedback! *blushes*
It's funny that you would comment on the text, lighting, and use of textures because I always used to struggle with them. I've really been trying to improve my composition and color matching, so it takes me quite a while to match up the textures. I go through a bunch before I find the right ones!
Duo+texture was the easiest of the three you mentioned just because I cut them out of their original background and picked three or four textures that I thought would go well. Once I found the perfect texture, I did my coloring and sharpening.
For repeat, I actually started with my alternate but didn't quite like how it turned out. I think I tried out a couple of other images before I went with the pink outfit and came up with the upside down composition. I tried to add text, but it didn't end up working.
It's funny that you mention turquoise as being natural-looking. It's actually quite complex, lol! ^^ I can't remember if her dress was even turquose, I think it might have been blue or white if I remember right, and I think there are at least two different textures in the background, and I added the turquoise text and the rose to her hair! ^^ So I'm glad that you found the icon to be very natural and harmonious!
