Start out with your base. I took 2 caps and combined them into my base.

Duplicate your base, and set it to screen 100% opacity.

Add this texture by ?, and set it to soft light 100% opacity.

Add this texture by
[livejournal.com profile] innocent_lexys (from her set Strange World), and set it to soft light 20% opacity.

Add a channel mixer layer with these settings then set it to screen 100% opacity: red output channel: red: 125, green: -30, blue: 0; green output channel: red: -15, green: 115, blue: 0; blue output channel: red: -50, green: 80, blue: 100.

Add a layer of 201400, and set it to exclusion 50% opacity. (Or three layers of 201400; set them to screen, screen, subtract all at 50% opacity.)

Add a vibrance layer, and input these settings: vibrance: 100, saturation: 35. You can do a similar effect with hue-saturation. Just set the master saturation to 35.

Duplicate your base, bring it to the top, and set it to darken 12% opacity.

Now, there are some odd greenish and bluish spots in both Caspian's and Susan's hair. I made a new layer, set it to color 100% opacity, took a small fuzzy brush, and painted over those spots with 8a7461.

Add this texture (or make a new layer, add some white splotches and line, and gaussian blur them), and set it to normal 40% opacity. This type of texture can give an icon a shiny effect depending on the type of coloring you use.

Add a brightness-contrast layer, and input these settings: brightness: -10, contrast: 20.

Add a layer of 404040, and set it to lighten 100% opacity. Voila! There you have it! ^^
